SELECT AND DISPLAY PRODUCTS THAT WILL INCREASE SALES
The products in your store form a foundation for your customer’s
experience. Your unique choice of products creates a visual theme
and energy mix that contributes to and determines your customer’s
overall shopping experience. With the selection of every item, whether
books, music, jewelry, candles or lotions and potions, you can create
a setting and a theme that can entice them to new explorations. Additionally,
many items require specific displays to help show the product, aid
in sales and become part of your décor. Using your intuition
to select and display products that are attractive to your customers
will add to their shopping experience and increase your sales.
INTUITIVE GLEANING PROCESS
Intuition is an integrative process that conveys messages and
energies through a variety of different methods. Your intuition can
be directed to explore specific areas and in this technique, you
will direct your intuition to help you shop for products that will
enhance your store.
To use your intuition to augment your sales selection, start by
noticing your products and your store’s attributes. I suggest
that you do this two times. First when the store is empty of customers
and again when your store is busy with customers. This variance allows
your intuitive process to work on different levels.
INTUITIVE STORE SCAN - QUIET PERIOD
When the store is empty, look at the different displays and the
products on them. Feel their energy. Notice their attraction. Does
your eye naturally go to certain displays and pass by others? Do
you favor certain colors? When scanning the bookshelves, do they
become a blur or are they intriguing? Walk around your store and
notice how you feel about certain areas and which products you display.
Do you sense more joy when you’re in the jewelry section? Does
the music area seem cluttered and distracting? Is there a flow that
leads you to one intriguing product experience after another? Are
you able to pick out several wonderful items in one area? Take your
time with this initial scan because it provides the background for
your deeper understanding.
INTUITIVE STORE SCAN - BUSY PERIOD
Next, scan your store while customers are shopping. You can consider
taking notes during this process. Writing and organizing your thoughts
can be very intuitive. Notice your customers’ shopping patterns.
Which products do they pick up? Which do they purchase? How do they
flow through your store? Are they following a path through the aisles
or do the products you display direct them? You are not composing
a detailed list of shopping habits; instead follow the energies that
lead your customers through your store and to particular products.
The intuitive gleaning process allows your own impressions from the
quiet period in your store and those generated by your customers
in the busy period to form a foundation of understanding for your
intuitive shopping experience. The intuitive gleaning becomes the
background wisdom for the Shopping Process.
THE SHOPPING PROCESS: SELECTING PRODUCTS BY INTUITION
This technique of selecting products relies on an open, four-part
approach: Genre, Topic, Feel and Stop. These four steps allow
you to focus your intuitive attention without becoming distracted
or overloaded.
- Genre
- The easiest way to start your intuitive selection process is
to first decide on genre, the kind of merchandise you going to
purchase - books, jewelry, music, clothes, tools, etc. Whether
you are glancing through catalogs, shopping online or at a trade
show, knowing the type of product you want first, helps you effectively
direct the intuitive process.
- Topic
- Now feel for the topics, the subject matter, that has a “pull.” Each
has an energy that can enhance the lives of your customers and
the attractiveness in your store. You may be guided to explore
new book releases for pagan celebration. You may feel drawn to
simple healing tools. You may hear the call of the goddess. You
may be led to divination products. Let the process flow.
- Feel
- After your choice of topic, move into “feel mode.” Feel
into what really pulls your attention and then what emotions or
vibrations occur as you select this product. Naturally you want
positive emotions. Are you pleasantly intrigued or almost giddy?
Does the product grab your attention and almost compel you to touch
it, read, it or explore it? This is an excellent indicator that
your intuition is guiding you.
- Stop
- The last part is to stop. Know when you are done shopping and
try not to push yourself. Intuition is not as reliable with exhaustion.
Return to this process at a later time when your mind is clear
and fresh.
USE THIS INTUITIVE PROCESS ANY WHERE
You can use this Intuitive Sales Selection Process while looking
for products in catalogs, magazines, trade shows or online. The larger
the catalog or show, the more time it will take. Pay attention to
what intuitively catches your eye. Notice what items make you smile
or generate positive feelings. Circle them in the catalog or make
notes in your self-created intuitive product notebook. Then once
you feel complete or the energy fades go back and make your purchase
decisions or request more information.
At a trade show, it may be easier and less time consuming to first
tune in to the show’s floor plan or program, and then later
confirm your intuitive hit by seeing the products. It is often more
effective to conduct your intuitive product selection before your
regular purchasing.
THE POWER OF GUIDANCE
The key is to allow your inner guidance to flow, follow the magnetic
pull of your intuition and try several new products. If they attract,
delight and intrigue you, they will create the same sensations in
your store and with your customers. Follow each product’s energy
and see where it leads. Your customers will undoubtedly do the same.
