Creating A New Opening For Your New Year by Lumari

OPEN TO NEW POSSIBILITIES
The yearly calendar is a tool that organizes our lives. The seasons and the celebrations help us move in that flow as the calendar announces the dates, times and motions Life’s cycle.

The secular calendar announces the new year in January and life organizes itself around it. Whether your spiritual practice has the new year in January or not, business around the world defines the new year as beginning January first. The month of January launches a time to reflect and re-evaluate. Reflection and re-evaluation compliment each other and form elements of many spiritual processes.

At each year’s beginning, we also have the opportunity to start something new, to bring a new dream, aspiration or possibility into our lives. We can use the beginning of the year pro-creatively and explore possibilities that can go beyond assessments and New Years resolutions. We can create openings for something inspirational to happen.

TAKING STOCK OF BUSINESS AND LIFE
This time of year creates the mood and mode for evaluation. We generally assess our lives and our business to see how we’ve done. For retailers January usually suggests inventory. It is time to take stock of what worked and what didn’t, or what sold and what didn’t, and then review and clear out older inventory that is no longer useful or appropriate. Healers, practitioners and spas often reconsider their client lists, space requirements and staffing in January. Each business has its own clearing process and it is beneficial to take this time to re-evaluate procedures, products and professionals. This helps you know what works, what benefits and what asks for more attention or clearing away so you can organize around those decisions.

If you engage in these processes during January when everyone else is doing the same thing, you can harness or align with some of that New Year’s momentum. Consider your process to be an evaluation and then a release of what is no longer appropriate for you and for your business. Normally, this reorganization helps you move forward and create a momentum towards the goals you have for your future. While reorganization is customary and beneficial at this time, it is only the first step in the process of Creating A New Opening For Your New Year.

This simple sacred act of Creating A New Opening is more than goals and direction. It generates a space for possibility and inspiration. In this special process of Creating A New Opening, you use the re-evaluation and reorganization process that is already in play as a first step in a simple sacred act of Creating A New Opening.

CREATING THE NEW OPENING
Creating A New Opening for the next year benefits from the clearing and organizing, but this process is more about what can occur after the clearing. Once you looked at the things that need clearing, products to eliminate, processes to upgrade and have made your assessments, then it is time to create the opening for future inspiration.

Creating A New Opening awakens unexplored territories and potentials. It brings a new avenue for possibility to reveal itself. An opening is more than the specifics you want to happen or need to do. It is not about generating intentions and then bringing in the energies to make them happen. It is the revelation and potential of what is possible that is not yet known. Creating A New Opening is the threshold of something fresh and inspirational that can carry you forward. This process and mode of being encourages and reveals hidden potentials to inspire you, your customers and your staff in innovative ways and unforeseen unfoldings.

CREATING THE CONTAINER
Imagine the process of Creating A New Opening as a pause, a silence into which the beneficial unknown can reveal itself to you. This pause is a container that can hold the space into which new and inspirational people, events, systems and opportunities can occur. The universe loves an opening! She is ready to fill it with delights for your exploration. Let’s have fun with this process and encourage the universe to bring those delights into our lives and our businesses.

Find a small space in your store, spa, place of business or home that you can clear off and keep relatively empty. This will become the space of opening. Prepare a shelf, small empty table, a space behind the counter or a special altar to invite opportunities. Once you’ve found and cleared this space, place a two beautiful clear, colorless glass or crystal vases prominently in the center. You can add crystals or candles around them, but keep the vases completely empty. The vases are the symbolic containers for your new openings. Seeing them will remind you to keep open to new possibilities and will symbolically and vibrationally attract new opportunities. The emptiness of the vase represents a clear space for openness and receiving. You want to see the empty vase with nothing in it, except pure potential. The vases will also evoke interesting conversations. Those conversations can help bring new openings into your life and help create them for your customers, clients, staff, friends and family.

AWAITING THE UNKNOWN
The area dedicated for the two clear vases provides a space of mind and of world to receive the new openings. It helps you enter a process of awareness and receiving. You are awaiting the unknown. You are holding a space for the muse to greet you and enter your life in unexpected and beneficial ways. It is important to keep the vases clear and clean, ready for the expectation of inspiration, joy, freedom and intrigue that new openings bring to you, your family, your business, your staff and your customers. Add to the display or subtract from it and as you invite new possibilities into your life. Once you claim the opening and create the container, the universe fills it with fresh opportunities to delight and surprise you. Your only action is awareness and joyful expectation.

CELEBRATING POTENTIAL AND POSSIBILITIES
As each new opening reveals itself to you, write a description of it on a colorful piece of paper, fold it and place it in one of the two vases. Now, one vase becomes the holder of the possibilities while the other, still and always empty, is the unlimited space of potential. Take time to clearly describe the new possibility or opportunity or new thought or insights on paper. As you write or type, savor the moment of revelation and receiving. You can also provide a space that encourages your staff to participate in this simple sacred act and when each perceives the new possibilities coming in their life, they can add their note to the vase. Celebrating the new opening focuses on welcoming and receiving the fresh opportunity, not in its manifestation and completion. At the end of the year, empty the vase with all of the notes and review the openings you received through this simple sacred act.

There are so many joyful benefits to this commemorating expression, this ritual or celebration of Creating A New Opening. Experience the simple quiet of awaiting inspiration, knowing that the muse will reveal herself and her gifts. Relish the moments of quiet and the empty spaces. Notice that you are ready to embrace the unknown and receive those gifts. The new year and the new openings we consciously create for ourselves, our family, our business and the world can be sweet, inspirational and empowering when we provide the space to celebrate the unknown and welcome new delight into our lives.

I love creating, writing and sharing these articles, meditations and simple sacred acts with you.
A joyous, flourishing, blessing-filled New Year to you all!
